Cover your Ears!!....

TAKS testing days seem to draaaag! Being stuck in a room for 3 hours to take a test makes the day seem like it lasts forever. Today after school should be fun. We have a TPX rep coming out to demo some new bats with our baseball team. The kids are really excited. This a byproduct of having a good season. TPX wants feedback on how their new bats feel, and what better way to get feedback then to ask one of the best teams in the area what they think. Should be fun...

We were kinda disappointed about Avery's deccision not to get her ear's pierced yesterday. Tomorrow is her 5th Birthday!! - Happy Birthday Avery!! - and Melanie had a great idea of getting Avery's ears pierced, and she seemed to be really excited! She chickened out and the dr's office, and I will let you read Mel's blog for the details. I think this will be an experience that we will look back on and laugh, and in fact, I am laughing as I picture Avery digging in her heels and refusing to let the "Brown Soap" anywhere near her. My wife will undoubtley have a different perspective. Ahhh to have a 5 year old!!!

Alot of people have asked why I have decided to grow a beard... here is all the answers you'll need....

Whew!....

Coming off a long week its great to kick back and do (almost) nothing on your day off. First off, we bounced back after a tough loss Tuesday to win Friday and Saturday... Man what a long district season... 17 games seems like an eternity, and 3game weeks drag on forever. We are 13-3 in district and 24-4 overall. By far the best seson I have ever been apart of. Playoffs begin in a week.

The guys that I coach with (4 others)are great, and they allow me to reflect on where I have been, and where I may be headed. I coach with a guy who has been married with kids a little longer than Mel and I, one who is expecting his first, one just married, and one who is pondering marraige. Its fun to think back to where I was at those different stages of life, and I am so thankful for the life I have now. I can honestly say these are great guys who care about what they do, and they do it right. Always encouraging, always positive, never degrading towards a kid (there are those in the profession that do :(

On the Homefront... well, after having my wife literally fall down the stairs, and having a kid fly 15 feet across the backyard after letting go of a swing, I can sit back and chuckle (after thanking God that no one was seriously hurt). That tells you what easy/laid back days are like around the Kratky house. Never a dull moment. I got to sit down and read a book with Avery this weekend, with a different twist. She read to me... thats right she is learning to read... wont be long before she is grading essays for me - just kidding!

Bummer...

Last nights game was pretty crazy, and filled with drama. We ended up on the losing side... The kids got caught up in the emotional aspect of the game a little too much, but I felt like we held our character when given the opportunity to lose it.

To top things off, Carl's (the guy I coach with, our head coach) father in law was rushed to the hospital after having a stroke... kinda puts things in perspective. All the drama that goes on around baseball dosent compare with whats really important like family.

Baseball is afterall a game (a great one- dont get me wrong) but its not life, and it dosent define who we are. At times it does reveal character flaws and strengths, but there is more to life than baseball. Praying for Carl and his whole family (especially his father in law Tommy).

Joshua 1:9-
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Awesome verse... this is my fall back when things get a little crazy, or when the head coach get tossed out of the ball game, and I have to run the show :)

Giving it a try...

Well, since this new (or old) blogging thing is all the rage, I thought I would give it a shot. I have almost zero time to spare, so I thought I would take one more thing on my jam packed plate. I figure this might be good way to stay in touch with friends and family, and let people know what going on in my life. As you can see by the picture above, the two biggest love's in my life are baseball and the fam. I have been really blessed by both lately, as my family is doing great as is the Cy Falls Baseball team.
